The challenge
Software quality depended on manual testing performed late, by people who were already the constraint on everything else. There was no engineering services function, no shared toolchain, and no way to coordinate release trains across teams that were nominally agile and practically sequential.
What we did
- Stood up a dedicated Engineering Services team, staffed with solutions engineers, as a permanent internal capability.
- Built an integrated toolchain across Jama, Jira Software, Jira Align, Jira Service Management, and GitHub.
- Configured agile release trains so teams could coordinate on a cadence rather than through escalation.
- Automated test coverage as a first-class engineering deliverable rather than a testing-team responsibility.
