Because checkable beats confident.
Every consultancy claims its clients ship better software. Almost none of them publish anything you could use to check the claim, or anything you could use at all without hiring them.
So the two recall datasets are free, machine-readable where we can manage it, and published with their limitations attached — including the ones that weaken the argument we would rather make. The Atlassian research labels every source by who paid for it, and includes the study that contradicts the headline.
That is not generosity. It is the only version of this that is worth reading.
